First, Ms. Horn and John Kane wrote that ‘AkwesasneWomensFire.com’ was hijacked.

I, Monica Peters registered the domain name and I still manage the website since it was registered.  I also paid all expenses that are involved with setting up and managing a website.  A group of Onkwehonwe in Akwesasne regularly meet to discuss and provide pictures, videos, stories, comments, and citizen reports about current events and crisis situations in Akwesasne.  Most of the content is created by myself and local videographers, writers, and Akwesasneron that live here and actually care about the wellbeing of our community.  We are as diverse as Akwesasne.  Some have government jobs, others are self-employed, others are unemployed, some are catholic, some are christian, and you get the picture.

Second, Ms. Horn and John Kane wrote that ‘Monica Lamb Peters is a non-native camel’.

My name is Monica Peters (formerly Monica Lamb) and I am  Onkwehonwe woman of flesh, bone, and blood.  Raksotha Red Jock tahnon Akenistenha Helena Jock.   Akwesasne is a small community and we all know our families and neighbors here.

I hear that Ms. Horn is an elderly lady that does not live or work in Akwesasne.  Hopefully she can find education and  support about lateral violence in her own community, regarding childish name calling.

Third, Ms. Horn and John Kane wrote that a new website was created at akwpeoplesfire.com, as a result of Monica Lamb Peters hijacking a website.

I believe that Ms. Horn posted the wrong website address on purpose in her spam, so that receivers of her spam would become confused about the malicious lies she is writing.  The website ‘akwpeoplesfire.com’ did not exist, when Ms. Horn sent her first rounds of Spam out.

If Ms. Horn had posted the actual website of her new group for peoples fire, viewers would have seen that Ms. Horn and peoples fire,  are the only ones that ask for money.  Ms. Horn has also been asking for money on the Internet on behalf of a group that she does not represent (Akwesasne Womens Fire).

So, I took the liberty of registering the bogus website (akwpeoplesfire.com) that Ms. Horn posted in her spam.   I pointed that website to Ms. Horn’s actual website at http://www.AkwesasnePeoplesFire.com.  I knew it would be helpful for the receivers of Ms. Horn’s spam, to see what her actual website is really about.

Then, on friday October 2nd 2009, I heard a message on our local radio station, where Ms. Horn’s group stated that the AkwesasneWomensFire.com website was hacked.  I know that is absolutely false, because I am the one who paid to setup the site, host it, and manage it.

AkwesasneWomensFire.com website has never been hacked.  The website has never been hacked nor hijacked.  So, now I am pointing ‘akwpeoplesfire.com’ to my response to  Ms. Horn’s personal attacks against me.

Anyone can investigate this on their own by comparing Ms. Horn’s website at http://www.AkwesasnePeoplesFire.com   and the website that I setup and maintain at  http://www.AkwesasneWomensFire.com

Fourth, Ms. Horn and John Kane states that I am a cult follower

I write about a wide variety of topics including the Indian Act, Kasechewan, Treaties, Innovative Technologies, Sports, Animal Life in Akwesasne, and more.  As a writer and researcher, I do not always even agree with some of the information that I find and share.

I do not belong to any organized religion, cult, or group.  Those that know me in our community of Akwesasne, can also attest to the fact that I take pride in making my own decisions, based on my own research.  My past work speaks for itself in regards to the fact that I do not follow any organized religion, cult, or group.  I am Onkwehonwe and I do my best to respect every diverse belief of my family, friends, and neighbors here in Akwesasne.

Fifth, Ms. Horn, John Kane, and her group accuses me of being anti-Kaianerekowa, taking easy money, long-term drug & alcohol abuse…

Their is absolutely no truth in any of those statements being made by Ms. Horn and repeated on her various websites and Spam.  My work requires that I maintain a very clear mind.  I have never been a long term drug nor alcohol abuser / user.  I don’t smoke cigarettes.  I don’t even take man made chemical drugs for illness and prefer homeopathy.

I respect our community elders that have earned respect here in Akwesasne.  I am Onkwehonwe. I study and practice Kaianerekowa to the best of my abilities.

Sixth, Ms. Horn and John Kane wrote that ‘Monica is soliciting donations’.

This past summer, for about two hours, on One day in July,  I accepted CASH donations at the side of the road, at the Kawehno:ke CrossRoads tent.  I was told that the cash I collected and personally donated would go towards building a new building at the crossroads, so that the elderly would not get cold this winter.

When I was unable to help website visitors verify that the donated money was going towards the new building fund, I stopped accepting donations.   I told  visitors to AkwesasneWomensFire.com to go directly to the crossroads in person, to donate cash in person, because I was not collecting money for Akwesasne Womens Fire group and that they had changed their group’s name.  Most of the website visitors that wanted to donate money, have gone to the Kawehno:ke Crossroads in person to donate, and they can speak up on my behalf, if they choose too.

A little of your own investigation within our community of Akwesasne, will show you that Ms. Horn’s Spam is full of purposefully written malicious lies about me.  A little investigation will show who is actually collecting money and how much of it has ever gone to the building fund.   A little investigation will also show you that I have actually donated considerably to the building fund and various projects around our community of Akwesasne, including the Kawehno:ke Crossroads.  I continue to support my friends, family, and neighbors here in Akwesasne.

I wish I did not have to even post this.  Recent personal attacks, threats, and false accusations towards me, from Ms. Horn and her group ‘peoples fire’ , are forcing me to speak out about this – Lateral Oppression.  I will defend myself and I will let bullies know that it is never OK to bully me or anyone in our community of Akwesasne.

I intend for this to clear up the confusion, anger, and chaos that Ms. Horn and her group is trying to create in the midst of the crisis that our community of Akwesasne is experiencing.  My family has been in and around Akwesasne for many centuries.  Ms. Horn’s vulgarities and lies are not going to change the fact that at the end of the day, we are all family here in Akwesasne.
